Project 365, Days 134-148

So I am a week behind my posting schedule, so this week I'll be posting two weeks. The first is my 50mm lens week and the second week is my iPhone week while I was in Vegas.

134:365 Finally got a container to organize all my newly acquired embroidery floss.

135:365 Date night at J-Dawgs, a local eatery favorite.

136:365 Got some amish granola at the local amish store. Oh, and they had gummy worms too, ha!

137:365 Mushrooms are everywhere after all the rain we've received.

138:365 Finished my newest cross-stitch pattern in anticipation for our Hawaii trip later in June!

139:365 Another rainy day, so galoshes were a must while I splashed in puddles.

140:365 Tiny cactus inside a plastic encasement. Ryan got both of us one for fun a while back and I'm surprised they're still alive and thriving!

141:365 This day was the 4th anniversary of Ryan's proposal to me. Gotta say, it was one of the best and easiest decisions of my life to say yes.

142:365 A poignant fortune was in my cookie from our Chinese food dinner.

143:365 Packing for my week-long work trip to Las Vegas.

144:465 On the road in a bus full of co-workers. We experienced every kind of weather during the 6-hour drive. This was taken during a beautiful sunny stretch of time.

145:365 There are some interesting art choices at the Bellagio. This terra cotta warrior had me missing my adventures in China/Japan a couple of years ago.

146:365 Went to a big party held by one of our top leaders in the company and he rented out a huge mansion that had some of the most extravagant and gaudy decor I've ever seen. This golden staircase was definitely a big contributor.

147:365 Ordered room service and had an amazing meal (prime beef burger with cheddar cheese and grilled onions).

148:365 Took a breather at the end of the convention on this terrace and was able to appreciate that I was done! Nothing else needed to be done and I was going to be leaving the next day. It was a lovely moment.

Alright, so there you have it! I'm caught up and you have double the pictures to enjoy. I'm glad to be back from Las Vegas and back to taking pictures with my big camera. But it was a lot of fun using my iPhone and trying to get quality pictures with that device. I'll definitely be doing another of those iPhone weeks in the future.

Project 365, Days 127-133

127:365 A rain-splattered iris I spotted while on a walk with Ryan. I love the smell of these flowers, they remind me of fruit loops ha!

128:365 While out on date night at Winger's, I caved in and bought my own bottle of their amazing sauce. Yum!

129:365 Ryan's family got to Skype with his brother Andrew (he's down in Mexico serving a church mission). I snapped this pic while he was looking particularly contemplative.

130:365 This picture of my mom and me sits on my nightstand and felt it appropriate to take a picture of this picture for Mother's day.

131:365 Working on a new cross-stitching project (as of the posting of this blog, I'm 90% finished!)

132:365 Delicious sliced-up strawberries for our chocolate chip pancake breakfast for dinner meal.

133:365 This little succulent has been a work in progress for a long time so it tickles me to see new growth in the center of it. I think from now on it'll keep improving :)

Starting with the last picture and continuing into the next week, I am trying to take pictures using my 50mm lens only which means it'll mostly be macro photography. I got into the habit of using my 20mm lens for most everything and am now challenging myself to use my completely manual lens.

Then I'm thinking the next week after that will be my iPhone only week since I will be in Las Vegas at a work convention and will be severely limited in my time to do anything outside of work. It's a crazy time in my life so I'm looking forward to when things finally slow down.

Project 365, Days 120-126

120:365 My protein-filled breakfast I eat at least 2 times a week. Gotta meet my macros!

121:365 We made our way down to Payson, UT to tour the new temple. It's absolutely beautiful inside and out!

122:365 Ryan and I had a longish bike ride around Provo and ended our ride at Pioneer Park. The trees there are in fine form.

123:365 Ryan was set apart in his new calling in our church on this day (2nd counselor in a bishopric of a young single adult ward at BYU) and I was feeling particularly proud of him for accepting such responsibility. I love him more and more each day :)

124:365 Work has been really tough and long these past few weeks, so when I was heading home and saw this rainbow, it served as a reminder that rainbows can exist in tumultuous times and put things into perspective that all is not terrible. All for the commute home, I was able to see this little piece of rainbow and it put a smile on my face.

125:365 I decided to read Ryan's favorite book, The Alchemist, while Ryan read my favorite book, The Little Prince. Both are short but really good and profound.

126:365 We've been getting LOTS of rain and storms recently and it makes my Missouri born-and-raised heart happy!

Can you believe it's mid-May already?! I certainly can't. And that I've continued this project for as long as I have despite some days being really hard to find anything to capture. But I surprise myself and my determination to finish things I've started.

Have a good Sunday, everyone!

Project 365, Days 113-119

113:365 I can't believe it's been a year since I did the whole graduation ceremony at BYU. Time certainly flies!

114:365 Ryan's sister Stephanie graduated and we had a big family dinner with relatives Friday night.

115:365 On Saturday, we went out to her favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot. Here is the dessert fondue flambéed.

116:365 Came home from an early morning meeting to a tupperware of cookies from a friend. I have her a meal earlier that week in this tupperware and this was how she returned it. So sweet (and delicious)!

117:365 Went on our weekly grocery shopping trip for our family night activity. A little lame, but time has been crunched lately what with my crazy work schedule. So we gotta do what we gotta do to spend some quality time together :)

118:365 Ryan and I say hello, shadow-style!

119:365 We went on a bike ride in the evening and saw some lovely plant life on our various stops.

Another week has passed. I wish that work wasn't so insane otherwise I would really have fun trying new photography techniques or exploring new places. But for now, I'm scraping by.

Happy Sunday!
