Summing up Summer

Well, folks, Labor Day is tomorrow, and though technically summer is around for another couple of weeks, Labor Day has always felt like the end of summer. Maybe it's because that's when most public pools close or because it's the last holiday before Halloween, but Labor Day signals to me that summer adventures are over and that autumn is coming.

This summer in particular has gone by way too fast. I'm not quite ready to let it go. We've had a good one, but I still want a few more days to go swim, to explore, to hike and have fun, to eat shave ice, and to just bask in the sun a while longer. I look forward to the fall and being able to wear layers and boots, to drink apple cider and to eat caramel apples, but I also wish that I could have just a few more adventures. Alas, that probably won't happen. Ryan starts school the day after Labor Day and this semester we are going to take seriously and really crack down on him doing his homework on time and passing his classes.

But allow me to post a random assortment of our summer adventures that have not made it on the blog because I post so inconsistently.

Well, it's been a FANTASTIC summer. I'm sad to see it go, but I look forward to the things we will do in the months to come.
